about

'Spectre' is a follow-up to ‘The Forest’, which was released in May and set a new path for Mark's writing style. Like its predecessor, ‘Spectre’ was written and recorded in Mark’s cottage, surrounded by a forest in Co. Kildare, Ireland.

Speaking about this new song, Mark says: I'm writing and singing differently to my other songs. ‘Spectre’ is a haunting song to me, it comes from a place of understanding and forgiveness. It’s about loss, grief, desire, ancient stuff. I've really benefitted from living in the forest, surrounded by nature.

lyrics

Hey now my old soul
Bound by ties unknown
Can you walk yet ?
Can you try ?

My feet don’t touch the ground
My voice an awful sound
Can you speak it?
Can you try?

You aren’t made of wood
You don’t float well.
You aren’t made of wood
You don’t float well.

But you burn
But you burn

Old ghosts lie side by side
I hear them in the night

Can you help me?
Can you try?

I see you passing by
A spectre in the light
Can I go there?
Can I try?

You aren’t made of wood
You don’t float well
You aren’t made of wood
You don’t float well

But you burn
But you burn

about

Mark Geary Dublin, Ireland

Irish singer-songwriter Mark Geary's sound is stripped back. His lyrics cut to the core revealing a life laid bare of human frailty, failed relationships, tenderness, grief and hurt.

Current single Spectre is hauntingly beautiful with layers of guitars. Written from a place of forgiveness and understanding.

The Forest is exquisite. A beautiful sound, its quietness is evocative.
